What is a Green Wall?

Green walls are the vertical version of a green roof. They provide a unique façade on exterior or interior walls while increasing air quality and adding an amazing aesthetic element. Like green roofs, green walls are a major tool in reducing the urban heat island effect, and therefore will reduce energy consumption. Popular in Europe and Asia, they help make cities cooler and quieter through shading and the absorption of sound by the plants themselves.

Green walls come in two primary formats—panels and cables—defined by the systems upon which the plants are placed on a wall’s surface.
